A prepositions says something about the position noun

Example:




The ring is in the box 
Where is the ring?
                In the box



The picture is above the fireplace



The book lies on the table


Below=lower than
example:
Where is the ring
                      Below the box           



The garden is behind the house
              Behind=at the back of

  She is hiding behind the curtain



                                               The boy fell against the wall                
                         against= touching or in contact with



She is leaning against the couch


                                     among=in a group



He likes to be among his friends



Around or round= in a circular way


We are sitting around the teacher
